Founder's Story

Anita Harper, Founder and CEO of New Beginning Kidney Foundation

After 7 years of dialysis treatment and receiving a transplanted kidney, Anita Christian- Harper founded

New Beginning Kidney Foundation in 2012.

A

Anita was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease in 2000. After being treated for 4 years, she was placed on dialysis for stage 5 kidney failure. One morning after waking up ill, Anita was transported, by ambulance, to receive medical help at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Anita received excellent care from the great staff of doctors and nurses at Davita-Piedmont Dialysis Center who taught her how to be an advocate for herself and how to manage kidney disease.  They restored her back to living a healthy lifestyle. While on dialysis, she noticed the challenges and difficulties her chair mates faced and vowed to make a difference.

N.B.K.F. was birth in 2012, one year after she received her living donor kidney transplant. She is now able to stand as a success story and help encourage those going through this well notated disease.

A Special Note from Anita Harper to YOU...

Because of all that I have endured while experiencing my journey as a kidney survivor. I vowed to share the importance of being compliant by following the proper protocols and thriving while living with kidney disease. You CAN manage what works best for you by using the tools available. My life has a new meaning and I have a new beginning to this journey called LIFE!
